Scenes of Bad
Dürkheim |
|
| According to research by Jack
Silknetter of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, four of the Seidenstricker immigrants who came to
America during the colonial era were from Bad Dürkheim. Bad Dürkheim is in the
southwest corner of Germany, in the Rhineland-Palatinate area, just west of Manheim in the
Rhine River Valley. The immigrants included Johannes Sebastian, Johannes Philip, Otto Philip and Maria Magdalena Seidenstricker. Their parents were Philip Casimir Seidenstricker and Anna Maria Elizabeth Seidenstricker. On Sebastian's birth record his father is listed as a shoemaker. Another son, Johannes Jacob, may have remained in Bad Dürkheim. |
